The West Valley Mission Community College Child Department Centers are seeking energetic and motivated students interested in working with children, six weeks to entry to first grade.

About Us

  • The West Valley College CDC serves children two to five years old in two classrooms.
  • The Mission College Child Development Center serves children six weeks – entry to first grade in six classrooms.

Our play-based program utilizes an emergent curriculum to provide engaging learning experiences for children. Our program includes activities such as cooking, creative arts, block building, sensory play, gardening, language development, and music. We maintain a supportive environment with a strong adult-to-child ratio to foster optimal development.


Hours of Operation for Both West Valley and Mission College Sites

8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • Position: Student Worker.
  • Salary Range: $18 - $21 per hour (based on teaching experience and ECE units).
  • Hours: 7.5 - 37.5 hours per week; hours may vary based on school schedules.

Qualifications
  • Enrollment in a minimum of 6 units at West Valley or Mission College (12 units required for international students).
  • Ability to be warm and responsive to children’s physical and emotional needs.
  • Willingness to set up, supervise, and clean up after children’s activities.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Openness to receiving direction from lead teachers.
  • Self-reflective and mindful of communication and behavior.
  • Reliable, responsible, and organized.

Additional Requirements
  • Upon offer of employment, the following documentation and steps will be required:
  • Fingerprint & Background Check: Conducted at WVC campus police department (no charge). Submit receipt to Program Director or Office Coordinator.
  • TB Test: Available through your doctor’s office, a community clinic, or Student Health Services Department on campus.
  • LIC 503 Health Check Form: Signed by a physician.
  • I-9 Form: To be completed at the HR Department.
  • Social Security Card: Signed copy required.
  • Picture ID: Copy or photo acceptable.
  • Immunization Records: Proof of Measles and Pertussis (whooping cough) vaccinations.
  • Flu Shot or Flu Waiver Form: Required documentation.
