As a Chinese American, first-generation college graduate from a low-income, non-English speaking household, Yi deeply understands the challenges faced by our students.
In the last 12 years, Yi has been passionately working in education. She is committed to providing accessible information and resources to support all students of all ages. As she continues her journey at Mission College, she is dedicated to fostering student equity, aligning with the college's vision of “empowering every student to discover their mission.”
Fast Facts
Yi is a Bay Area native, raised in Oakland, who enjoys road trips and growing trees. She is also a fluent speaker of Cantonese, an intermediate level listener of Mandrian and a beginner for Korean, Japanese, and Spanish. She loves languages/linguistics and appreciates the culture intwine within languages. Like Frantz Fanon said, “To speak a language is to take on a world, a culture.”
