Getting started with college registration can feel overwhelming, but we’re here to
make it simple. Whether you're a new, returning, or continuing student, this guide
will help you understand how to register, what you need, and where to find support.
When to Register
You can register for classes on or after your assigned priority registration date.
Continuing students: Check your email for registration info and log in to My Mission Portal to view “My Assigned Registration Date(s).”
New or returning students: You’ll receive a registration date after your application
has been processed.
Tip: Completing the application, orientation, and education plan can qualify you for
priority registration.
Access to your Student ID and login credentials is essential for your academic journey
at Mission College. These details let you register for classes, track grades, and
stay connected through the Mission Portal and Canvas.
Your Student ID is a seven-digit number preceded by "G0" (e.g., G01712345). You’ll
receive this ID when you apply to Mission College. If you’ve lost it, you can easily retrieve your ID number. Your default password is your 8-digit birthdate in the format MMDDYYYY. Please change
it upon your first login.
Enter your old password, then enter and confirm your new password
Click Update Settings
If you’ve missed more than one semester, you’ll need to reapply to Mission College
via CCC Apply to reactivate your student ID.
How to Search for Classes
Browse available classes through the online Class Search tool. You can filter by
subject, term, instructor, or class format (online or in-person) to build a schedule
that works for you. The Class Search tool is updated regularly, so check back often
for the most current offerings.
Registration Notes
Withdrawing from Classes
If you want to drop a regular semester-long class, you can do so without any record
on your transcript up until the end of the second week.
For shorter classes, you can drop before completing 10% of the course with no record.
After these times, you can still withdraw up until the end of the 12th week (or before
finishing 75% of a shorter course), but a “W” (Withdrawal) will appear on your transcript.
After the 12th week (or 75% of a shorter course), you can only withdraw for serious
reasons beyond your control. You’ll need to submit a petition to the college, and
if approved, you’ll get a “W.”
You can try the same course three times with grades of “W,” “NP” (No Pass), “D,” or
“F.” If you want to take it a fourth time, you must petition the college.
If you don’t follow the official withdrawal steps, your instructor may give you a
final grade.
Remember: It’s your responsibility to officially withdraw from a class if you decide
to drop it.
Excused Withdrawal (EW)
You might get an Excused Withdrawal (EW) if something serious happens beyond your
control, like:
Job transfer far away
Caring for a sick family member
Jail or prison issues (not for behavior problems or transfers you request)
Immigration problems or other serious issues
If your situation fits, and it’s verified, you’ll get an “EW.” This won’t count against
you in probation or dismissal decisions and doesn’t count toward your withdrawal limit.
It also won’t turn into a failing grade.
Note: An excused withdrawal does not mean you’ll get your enrollment fees back.
Pass/No Pass Option
The deadline to choose Pass/No Pass (P/NP) grading for full-term classes is the last
day of instruction.
Short-term courses may have different deadlines.
After a course begins, you’ll need an Add Code from your instructor to register in
the class. Enter the code in My Mission Portal before the add deadline to complete
registration. Learn more.
If you get an error message while trying to register, fill out the Registration Assistance
Form. A staff member will get back to you within 24–48 hours.
At Mission College, you can audit classes just for fun or personal growth — no grades,
no credit, just learning. But there are a few rules to keep in mind:
Who Can Audit:
You must be eligible for admission to Mission College.
You need to be an active student in the West Valley-Mission Community College District.
You must be in good academic standing.
You can’t audit a class if you're eligible to take it for credit.
High school students can’t audit classes.
Fees:
Auditing costs $15 per unit.
If you're already taking 10 or more units for credit, you can audit up to 3 extra
units for free.
Pay your audit fees when you register. They're non-refundable after two weeks or after
10% of the class has met.
Fees may change based on state decisions.
How to Register:
You can only register to audit after the official add deadline (check the class schedule).
Get the instructor’s approval and signature on the Audit Form.
Fill out the form and register in person at the Admissions & Records Office.
Once you choose to audit a class, you can’t switch to take it for credit later.
Waitlisting a Class
If a class is full, you can join the waitlist:
If a spot opens up, you'll receive an email and text letting you know.
Be sure to monitor your status under “Manage My Waitlist” in My Mission Portal and
check your WVM email regularly.
