Mission College to Host Nursing Assistant Spring Camp for High School Students

High school girls practice nursing skills in a lab at Mission College.

Santa Clara, CA – February 25, 2025 – High school juniors and seniors interested in exploring a career in healthcare are invited to participate in Mission College’s Nursing Assistant (NA) Spring Camp, a hands-on, two-day program designed to introduce students to the essential skills and responsibilities of nursing assistants.

Nursing Assistant Spring Camp

Taking place on April 24 - 25, 2025, the Nursing Assistant Spring Camp offers students an opportunity to gain real-world experience, explore healthcare career pathways, and connect with industry professionals. Participants will engage in hands-on training, interactive learning sessions, and team-building activities while exploring Mission College’s state-of-the-art nursing labs.

"Students who participate in this camp will gain a solid foundation in patient care while building confidence in their skills," said Lania Williams, Health Occupations Department Chair and Instructor. "They’ll leave with a deeper understanding of the healthcare field and the many career pathways available to them."

The camp includes a variety of interactive activities. Day one features campus tours, nursing lab exploration, skill rotations in vital signs and patient care, a career Q&A session, and an evening social event with dinner and bowling. On day two, students will experience 3D anatomy exploration using the Anatomage Table, participate in hands-on mobility and rehabilitation exercises, hear from pharmacy technicians and EMTs, and learn about the CNA certification process.

"This camp is an incredible opportunity for students to get a real-world look at healthcare careers while gaining hands-on experience in a supportive environment," said Julian Branch, Director of Educational Partnerships. "Healthcare is one of the fastest-growing fields, and we want to inspire the next generation of professionals to pursue rewarding careers that make a difference."
