Classes to Consider Next Term
POL 002 • Comparative Government
If you think America’s political system is weird and/or broken, this is an opportunity to dream up your own solution to the problems. You will see how seven other countries around the world structure their democratically elected government, and you’ll then get to create your own political and electoral systems in a fictitious county.
POL 006 • Politics of Race, Class, Gender
A fascinating exploration of global issues through the lens of, well, Race, Class, and Gender. Explore topics such as the white-washing of Hollywood, the gender pay gap, masculinity in advertising, and stereotyping. Compare the experiences of minority groups in the United States with those in other countries.
POL 007 • International Films
A fun class that explores the culture and politics of other countries by watching the movies created in those countries. Homework involves watching movies, most of class time is spent watching movies... You’ll get college credit for watching movies, and briefly writing about them. Who doesn’t like watching movies?
POL 020 • Controversial Legal Issues
If you’re at all interested in Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, you’ll really have fun with this course. Find out what the Supreme Court has had to say about sex, self-expression, discrimination, immigration, religion, drugs, prisons, and other issues of constitutional law. Discuss and debate the important social and political issues of the day.

Although no specific course of study is required for admission to Law School, Political Science is an excellent major or minor if you are looking to a legal career. It equips you with the intellectual tools needed for the study and practice of law.
Political Science courses will develop your ability to express concepts clearly, the capacity to read concentrated materials with precision, and the power to reason, weigh facts, and solve problems.
