Calogero started his fire service career in England where he served as a Crew Commander in structural and aviation firefighting before moving to the US following an eight-year career. He most recently served as the B-shift Battalion Chief with the Santa Clara City Fire Department (SCFD) where he served for twenty-three years in the following disciplines: Paramedic, Wildland Firefighter, Fire Control 3 Primary Instructor, Hazardous Materials Specialist and USAR CA TF-3 Medical Team Specialist. His involvement with the Mission College Firefighter 1 Academy started in 2022.

Professional Memberships
Calogero is a graduate of the US Fire Administration's Executive Fire Officer Program, a four-year graduate program with a focus on applied research in the areas of Executive Leadership, Community Risk Reduction, Managing Large Scale Incidents and Executive Leadership.
He is Certified as a CA State Fire Marshall Chief Officer and a CA State Fire Marshall Fire Officer.

Calogero speaks Italian (fluent), Sicilian (fluent) and French (proficient). He is the husband to his wife Evette and a father to three daughters, each of whom is proficient in one of the following languages Spanish, French, Italian and Japanese.
