VITA Program (ACC 053A, ACC 053B and ACC 053C).Offering begins Winter 2020
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program was formally established in the 1970s by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to aid low-income individuals and families in preparing their annual tax returns.
The IRS continues this program and offers free tax help to people who generally make $56,000 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and those with limited English-speaking abilities who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to these individuals. At the student's successful completion of ACC 053A, they will be one of those IRS–certified volunteers!!
By helping low-income taxpayers in the Bay Area, we saved them over $18 million in tax preparation fees last year. By enrolling in this class, students are taking the first step to help those in your community that needs it most. After this course, students will have learned new technical skills, earned course credit, receive a certificate of completion from the Franchise Tax Board, have valuable experience to place on your resume!
