Photos 

Mission College has contracted with WASIO Photography to take a photo of each student participant as they receive their degree or certificate. Additional information on this process will be shared at galleries. You can also text MISSION2023 to 90738 to receive a notification right away when your photos are available.

Commencement Rehearsal 

It is strongly encouraged for all graduation participants to attend a Commencement rehearsal to familiarize themselves with procedures and etiquette for the ceremony. The rehearsal will be held on Monday, May 21 at the San Jose Civic. The time is to be finalized and will be posted here in the near future.  

Regalia

Regalia, such as caps, gowns, and tassels, can be purchased from Mission’s Bookstore up until the day of the ceremony. All students participating in the Commencement ceremony must wear the regalia of a black cap and black gown. Degree candidates are asked to also wear a Commencement tassel. 

Also, we have free LGBTQIA Pride stoles for anyone wishing to show their pride during Commencement. Stop by the Student Engagement Center (SEC) Room, 331 or email 

mc.instruction@missioncollege.edu to express your interest and provide your contact information. Stoles will be available until Wednesday, May 24, for pick up.

Degree and Certificate Information 

At Mission College, we offer various degrees and certificates, including Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Science (AS), Associate in Art for Transfer (AAT), and Associate of Science for Transfer (AST) degrees as well as Certificates of Achievement (CA) and Certificates of Proficiency (CP).

The Office of Admissions and Records will evaluate all petitions for graduation or completion to determine eligibility for these degrees and certificates. Candidates for a degree or a certificate will receive a commemorative diploma cover at the Commencement ceremony to symbolize the conferring of a degree or a certificate.

The official degree or certificate will be mailed to you later this summer or early this fall. 

Academic Honors and Commencement Booklet 

Academic honors are for AA and AS as well as AAT and AST recipients only and are determined by your degree applicable cumulative grade point average. High marks will be recognized in the Commencement program booklet provided at the ceremony as follows:  

  • Summa Cum Laude: 3.8 or higher GPA and designated in the program with three stars next to their name.  
  • Magna Cum Laude: 3.5 to 3.79 GPA and have two stars next to their name.  
  • Cum Laude: 3.30-3.49 GPA and is noted with one star next to their name. 
Guests and Parking Information 

We encourage you to invite your family members and friends to attend the Commencement Ceremony. Parking is free of charge, and all available parking lots will be open on the day of Commencement. However, prime seating inside the Convention Center is limited, and we encourage guests to arrive early and carpool. Doors will open to family and friends at 5 p.m. Friday, May 26. Also, the event will be live streamed and can be watched at commencement.missioncollege.edu.  

Livestream

The entire Commencement Ceremony will be live streamed at Mission College's Youtube page at youtube.com/go2missionsc or at commencement.missioncollege.edu. Share one of these links with your friends and family who can't join us at the Santa Clara Convention Center.

Noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 26: Free Concert on Central Plaza with The Joint Chiefs

Thursday, April 27

11 a.m. to Noon: Donuts with President Dr. Seher Awan

Noon to 2:30 p.m.: Multicultural Festival with Taiko Drumming & Free Lunch

4 p.m. to 6 p.m.: Grad BBQ -- Bring your family!

No tickets will be required. We look forward to celebrating with your family.
