What Is EOPS?
EOPS has been a cornerstone of California Community Colleges since its inception in
1969, founded in the Civil Rights Movement. The goal was to support students affected
by language, social, and economic disadvantages. Mission College’s EOPS program has
been helping students succeed since 1979, consistently serving over 300 students every
semester.
Mission EOPS Student Support: EOPS is more than just a program; it’s a community of
students who share common goals and challenges. At Mission College, we’re proud to

EOPS is committed to providing resources to students who have faced educational disadvantages.
To qualify, you must meet certain criteria, including being a California resident
or Dreamer/DACA/AB540 student and meeting the following academic needs:
First-generation college students whose parents did not earn a bachelor’s degree
Students who have graduated with a GPA lower than 2.50 or did not graduate from high
school
Those who need developmental education in math or English to pursue an Associate Degree
Students who are emancipated foster youth or were in foster care, kinship care, guardianship,
or ward of the court
Additionally, you must be enrolled full-time (12+ units) in your first semester. There
are exceptions for students with disabilities (DSPS) or foster youth, where reduced
unit accommodation may apply.
NextUp supports current and former foster youth by providing academic counseling,
financial help, educational support services, and more to assist students in reaching
their college and career goals.
CARE helps single parents receiving public assistance through extra resources like
tutoring, priority enrollment, financial support, counseling, & dedicated services
to promote academic & personal success.
CalWORKs offers resources to students who are parents and receiving public assistance,
including child care support, job placement services, and academic counseling.
