Mission College Unveils New Monarchs Athletics Identity, Marking a Bold New Era
For Immediate Release
Santa Clara, CA - Mission College proudly announces the launch of its new Monarchs athletics identity, unveiling a bold, future-focused mark that signals a powerful new chapter for the college’s athletic program.
Centered around a dynamic lion emblem, the Monarchs mark embodies power, motion, and transformation. The lion’s angular, flame-like mane fuses the college’s signature teal and orange into a striking visual expression of energy and forward momentum. Paired with a modern, forward-leaning “Monarchs” wordmark, the identity reflects strength, pride, and a relentless drive toward excellence.
The launch of the Monarchs identity follows the retirement of the Saints moniker after decades of tradition.
In October, the Mission College community came together through a campus-wide vote to select “Monarchs” as the new mascot, reflecting a shared vision for a more unified and forward-looking athletics identity.
The logo and mascot redesign process incorporated extensive feedback from students, employees, and the broader community, ensuring the final mark authentically represents Mission College. The process culminated in a campus-wide vote on three final logo options that concluded in March.
As part of this new era, Mission College is also expanding its athletics offerings. In addition to existing programs in women’s basketball, tennis, and badminton, the college is introducing a wide range of new sports, including women’s flag football, men’s and women’s wrestling, and more. This expansion reflects Mission College’s commitment to increasing student engagement, access, and opportunities through athletics.
The Monarchs identity is designed to extend beyond competition, serving as a unifying symbol across campus and throughout the community.
With its bold design and clear sense of motion, the new mark positions Mission College athletics for growth, visibility, and long-term success.
