The CalWORKs program supports parents, particularly those with children under 18, as they pursue their educational and career goals. We understand the challenge of balancing family responsibilities with academic commitments, and we’re here to help you succeed.

With the support of our local community partners and a range of services, CalWORKs offers personalized assistance that empowers you to earn certificates, degrees, or transfer to four-year institutions while also helping you find family-sustaining employment.

Childcare Assistance: Potential support at the Child Development Center to help balance your school and parenting responsibilities.
Priority Registration: Secure your spot in classes early.
Resource Referrals: Connect to both on-campus and community services, ensuring you have access to all the resources you need.
County Case Worker Support: Assistance with navigating county services for additional support.
Work-Study Opportunities: On-campus employment for eligible students to help you gain experience and financial support.
Counseling Services: Through our partnerships with local organizations like Catholic Charities and Next Door Solutions, you can access additional support.

How to Join

Complete a Mission College Application: Apply online at Mission College or visit the Welcome Center for assistance.

Determine Eligibility for CalWORKs Services. For Santa Clara County Residents: Complete the online application at MyBenefits CalWIN or visit a local eligibility office. For Out-of-State Residents: Contact your local eligibility office for guidance on eligibility.

Attend a CalWORKs Orientation: Bring your Mission College class schedule to the orientation.

Submit Your Referral: Your county eligibility worker will email your referral form to Mission College CalWORKs

Steps Before Your First Counseling Appointment

Dertermine Eligibility:
- For Santa Clara County Residents: Complete the online application at MyBenefits CalWIN or visit a local eligibility office.
  - Santa Clara County Office: 1867 Senter Road, San Jose.
  - North County: 1330 W Middlefield Road, Mountain View, (408) 278-2400.
  - South County: 379 Tomkins Court, Gilroy, (408) 758-3300
- For Out-of-State Residents: Contact your local eligibility office for guidance on eligibility.
Complete Placement Tests: Take the Math, English, and Reading or ESL placement
Apply for Financial Aid: Complete the FAFSA or California College Promise Grant (CCPG) application online.
Pay Your Fees: Pay ASB, health, lab, and parking permit fees, and bring your receipts to the CalWORKs office for reimbursement.
Book Voucher Appointment: Schedule an appointment in the CalWORKs office to obtain a book voucher.
