Mission College Supports Students of Every Age to Start Strong This Fall

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SANTA CLARA, CA -- As Mission College celebrates 50 years of serving the Santa Clara community, it renews its commitment to what matters most: student success, access to opportunity, and the transformative power of education. In preparation for the upcoming fall term that begins August 23, the college is launching a series of in-person support events designed to help new and returning students take their next step with clarity, confidence, and community behind them.
From high school graduates exploring their future to working adults returning to college and parents pursuing new careers, Mission College continues to be a launching pad for learners from all walks of life. The college understands that starting or restarting college can feel overwhelming, especially for adult learners balancing family, jobs, and finances. That’s why these events are tailored to meet students where they are, providing not just information, but hands-on, human-centered support.
At the heart of this outreach is Destination Registration, taking place on Saturday, August 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Engagement Center. This one-day event offers students the chance to meet with counselors, choose classes, apply for financial aid, and tour the campus, all in one visit. It’s a high-impact day of connection, designed to take the stress out of getting started. Trained staff and student ambassadors will be on hand to walk participants through every stage of the process, making sure no one is left behind or overwhelmed.
“For anyone thinking about going back to school, especially adult learners, we want you to know: you’re not alone, and you belong here,” Mission College President Dr. Seher Awan said.
“Mission College is a place where possibility lives where students of all ages are seen, supported, and prepared for what’s next.”
For those juggling work or family responsibilities, Mission College is also offering Extended Saturday Hours on August 23 and September 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. During these sessions, key services including Admissions, Counseling, Financial Aid, and the Welcome Center will be open in the Student Engagement Center. Whether you need help finalizing your schedule, resolving questions about tuition, or simply talking through your options, these Saturday events offer flexible, personalized support when it matters most.
“These events are designed to make college feel accessible and manageable, especially for returning students who may not know where to start,” Mission College Outreach and Student Life Director Connor Keese. “We’re here to walk you through every step from choosing classes to applying for financial aid so you feel ready, not rushed.”

The support doesn’t end there. For the 2025-26 school year, Mission College is offering free tuition to qualifying students, including many adult learners. Combined with the college’s free meal program, which ensures students have access to healthy meals on campus, Mission is breaking down financial barriers that often stand in the way of educational progress.
The Fall Term officially begins on Saturday, August 23, with a wide selection of courses offered on campus, online, and in hybrid formats to suit students’ needs. With small class sizes, expert faculty, and pathways that lead directly to transfer or career advancement, Mission College continues to help students build futures rooted in confidence, knowledge, and opportunity.
These enrollment events are more than boxes to check, they are the beginning of a journey. Students leave with more than a course schedule: they leave with a plan, a purpose, and the assurance that they are part of a caring and committed community.
Whether you’re starting fresh, starting over, or starting small, Mission College is here to help you start strong.
