What is a prerequisite?
A prerequisite is a class or skill that is required before you can enroll into a preferred class(es). For example, ENG 01A is a prerequisite for ENG 01B. This means you need a "C" or "P" or better in ENG 01A to enter ENG 01B.
Methods to clear prerequisites
For coursework taken outside of Mission College, there are two methods that may be used to clear prerequisites: Equivalency or Challenge. To determine which is applicable for you, please complete the following steps:
1. Review the list of Pre-Approved Courses and External Exams
a. If your course or external exam is on the list above, complete a Prerequisite Equivalency.
b. If your course or external exam is NOT on the list above, complete a Prerequisite Challenge.
In-progress coursework from colleges outside of the district cannot be used to clear prerequisites.
Students with coursework from outside of California and/or outside the U.S. must complete a Prerequisite Challenge
