Mission College Admissions & Records - Clearing Prerequisites

*Due to the transition to a new student records system, prerequisites will not be until cleared April 17th. Thank you for your patience.*

CLEARING PREREQUISITES

What is a prerequisite?
A class or skill that is required before you can enroll into a preferred class(es).  For example:  MAT 003A is a prerequisite for MAT 003B.  This means you need a "C" or "P" or better in MAT 003A to enter MAT 003B.

Methods to clear prerequisites

  1. Prerequisite courses and external exams (AP, CLEP, EAP, SAT, ACT and placement results from other colleges) that have been pre-approved by the department can be found HERE.  If your course or external exam is on this list, complete the Prerequisite Clearance Form online or place it in the drop box located outside of the Counseling Office in Main Building, Room E1-301.
  2. If you did not find your course or external exam on the list, submit the Prerequisite Challenge Form with supporting documentation to the appropriate department chair or designee in-person or via email.  The department chair will let you know if your request is approved or denied usually within 5 - 10 business days.  If your request is approved, take or email your signed Prerequisite Challenge Form to the Assessment Center in Main Building, Room E1-101 or assessment.center@missioncollege.edu. You will then be able to register online for the approved class(es) after one (1) business day or on your assigned registration date.

At this time, only in-progress courses from Mission College and West Valley College can be used to clear prerequisites.  In-progress courses from other institutions cannot.
