Mary earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She received her B.A. in English and World Literature from Pitzer College.
Mary has taught in Comparative Literature and Chicana/o Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, in Chicana/o and Latina/o Studies and the Writing Program at the Claremont Colleges, and in the Structured Liberal Education program at Stanford University.
Mary is passionate about interdisciplinary research, literature, ethnic studies, the performance arts, and social activism. Please visit her during office hours! She is always happy to see students and to lend out books from her library.
