Q: When do the classes start and end?
A: We follow the regular Mission College calendar.
Q: What documents are required?
A: No documents are required other than information needed to complete the Noncredit Application
Q: Do I need to attend the college orientation?
A: No. It is not required for ESL students.
Q: I can't attend every class because of my job. Is that OK?
A: Students need to plan to attend every class meeting. If you need to be absent
on some days, please inform the teacher. However, if you need to be absent regularly,
we suggest you find a different class time that will work better with your schedule.
Q. I want to take a class at a different level then my placement. Is that OK?
A: Once you complete the online placement, you may enroll in any noncredit class
you want to take.
Q: I'm on a waitlist. What should I do?
A: On the first day of class, contact the instructor via email or attend the class
to find out if there will be space. The instructor may not contact you.
Q: I signed up for many NCE classes at different levels because I don't know which
one I want. I plan to drop the classes I don't want during the first week. Is this
OK?
A: No. This is not OK. Signing up for multiple classes blocks other students from
getting a seat. You need to register for only the classes that you definitely plan
to take. If you are not sure about the correct level for you, contact the instructor
for assistance.
Q: What is the difference between: in-person/on campus, hybrid, fully online - synchronous
/asynchronous?
A: In person: the class is on campus in a classroom. It is not online. Hybrid:
The class meets in person, but it has an online component. You will meet in person
and also do work online. Fully online synchronous: The class meets in Zoom at specific times for all of the
teaching. Fully online asynchronous: The class is online in Canvas only. It does
not meet live in Zoom.
