Mission Symphony Concert
About the Symphony
Mission College Symphony is "Santa Clara's Orchestra" and a community gathering place for musicians of varying age and skill level throughout the Bay Area. Formed in January of 2007, it is led by accomplished Mission College Music Instructor Joseph Ordaz.
The orchestra gives Northern California residents numerous opportunities to work and perform with one another in small ensembles, as well as in chamber groups.
Fall 2024 Semester
- Auditions for new members: Wednesday, August 28, 6:30 p.m., Room MT-13
- (Requires performing two short works data-ogsc="black" of the applicants choice. Preferably one slow and one fast work.)
- Enrollment in Music 48A required. All sections needed, especially strings and brass.
- Rehearsals on Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM.
- First full rehearsal starts September 4.
- Fall concert on Friday, November 22 at Mission Santa Clara Church, featuring the music of Brahms, Haydn and Bruch.

The goal of the Mission College Symphony is to provide music and education to the Mission College campus and surrounding communities. All concerts are free to Mission College students.
A short audition is required for all new members. An orchestral excerpt and short solo piece is recommended. If you have any questions about repertoire and to schedule an audition time, please email [email protected].
