SANTA CLARA, Calif.—The Mission College Bistro, fully run by the Santa Clara community college’s hospitality management students, will open for the Spring Semester on Thursday, February 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The restaurant will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Similar to the Fall, the menu, cooking, food preparation, and of course, cleaning, is run by Mission College’s culinary students. Each week a different student leads the restaurant as its “manager for the day.”

While the Fall featured a “cafeteria style” menu where patrons picked up their food via a tray, the Spring will be more of a sit-down, restaurant format with starters, entrees, desserts and beverages. Meals run between $10 and $15 per person.

Also debuting this spring is the college’s new food truck. Its maiden voyage occurred during the Santa Clara Library Librarypalooza in February and it also fed students from the regional FCCLA culinary competition this past weekend.

Mission College’s two-year Hospitality Management program also caters to current restaurant workers, helping them get management experience at their pace. The program also works with our ESL programs to offer students the ability to learn English with they take the program and earn their degree.
