Summer Concert Series Announced

SANTA CLARA, Calif.-- Music, sun, and food trucks will play out on the Mission College campus this summer with a free outdoor concert series every other Wednesday starting June 15. Each concert will start at 6 p.m. and patrons are encouraged to bring blankets and/or chairs to sit on the lawn.

Featuring a mix of Cuban, Jazz, Soul, Brazilian and Latin music throughout the summer, the new Central Plaza takes the place of the campus' first Main Building, which saw its last pillar fall on February 11, 2019.

The series will open up with drummer Brian Andres and his Afro-Cuban Jazz Cartel on June 15, which includes Grammy Award-winning musicians.

On June 29 Latin Jazz musician Ray Obiedo will bring singer Leah Tysse will perform a unique blend of funk, jazz, and soul.

Salinas-based Qiensave creates high-energy dance music and a five-person band featuring a combination of rhythm guitars, keyboards, drums, bass, and vox instruments. They will perform on July 13.

On July 27 Oakland-based soul singer Lilan Kane will bring her sultry voice to Mission College. A graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, she has performed at Yoshi's and the San Francisco Jazz Festival, among other venues.

The concert series will close out on August 10 with Brazilian vocalist Masha Campagne, who will bring her soulful portrayals of Brazilian bossa and samba effectively to campus.
