SANTA CLARA, Calif.—Mission College ESL instructor Marina Broeder was awarded the 2017 Hayward Excellence in Education Award. She is one of four faculty members in the State to receive the award.
Named for former California Community College Chancellor Gerald C. Hayward, the award honors outstanding community college faculty who have a track record of excellence to their students, in their profession and to their college. Broeder received a $1,250 cash award and will be recognized at the March 20 Board meeting in Sacramento.
“I can't think of a person more deserving of this award than Marina,” said Mission College Academic Senate President Thais Winsome. :Not only does she excel in the classroom, but she does an incredible amount of outreach for Mission College through her work in the community with immigrant and underserved populations.”
