MC Floristry Program Wins First Prize for the Third Year in a Row

Hiroko Mori, a student in Mission College s Retail Floristry program, won first prize in the student designer category at the California State Floral Association s annual conference held in San Francisco, October 9th and 10th. This is the third year in a row that a Mission College student in the Retail Floristry program has won first prize at the annual event and competition. The theme for Hiroko s design was "California Dreaming." Additionally, a fellow student in the program, Margaret Kurasaki, won "Best of Show" in the same competition. Both students will be competing against professional florists at the 2011 conference. A total of 27 students representing seven floristry schools, including Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, were judged in the competition.

Last year's second place winner from Mission College, Barbara Rodriquez, competed this year against professional florists with the California-centered theme "Wine to Waves."
