High School: Saint Lawrence Academy
AA – General Studies, December 2008
San Jose State University
B.S. – Kinesiology, May 2013
Single Subject Teaching Credential – Physical Education
At Mission College I received my AA in General Studies and prepared for transfer to the California State University (CSU). I transferred to San Jose State University and received my BS in Kinesiology in 2013 and then stayed at SJSU to pursue my teaching credential in Physical Education. I now teach Kindergarten - 5th grade P.E. in Santa Clara at nearby Don Callejon School.
Mission helped me realize what I really wanted to study. It helped me create a career pathway to transferring that allowed me to keep following my dream. My counselor served as a mentor and provided support that guided me in the right direction and set up my future success. Taking her Career and Lifestyles class helped prepare me for college courses at Mission and SJSU.
The University life for me wasn't that big of a transition. I went to a commuter school in SJSU so I did not live on campus. This made the transition fairly easy. Classes however are a little more intense in the workload category, but taking a career & life styles class, along with a study skills class early in my Mission College career helped me be prepared for this workload.
Enjoy your time while at Mission. Network and make new friends (It's not high school anymore). Find yourself and what direction you want to go in life. Don't give up on yourself no matter how hard the road may seem.
