Catherine  Shea

Faculty, Chemistry

Catherine Shea has been teaching Chemistry at Mission College since 1984, and served as the Department Chair of Chemistry 2004-2010. Prior to teaching at Mission College she taught Chemistry at the Taipei American School in Taiwan, and Math for the Newark Unified School District in Newark, California. Prior to her teaching career, she work for Smith, Kline, and French Pharmaceuticals as an analytical research Chemist in Philadelphia, Pa.

Expertise

In graduate school, Catherine worked on the implementation of Audio-Visual instruction for the optimization of the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer.  She also worked on Caustic vs Acidic Digestion – Analyzing Fe-impregnated Zeolite X using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry.

Fun Facts

Catherine enjoys musical theatre, yoga, traveling, and taking long walks with her dog, Lady.

She does Agility classes and K9 Nose Work classes with Lady in her spare time.
