Nohemy  Chavez

Counselor, Puente Project

Nohemy has been counseling and teaching at Mission College since January 2015. She has previously worked for UC Berkeley, American River College, UC Davis Undergraduate Admissions, Migrant Education, Puente and TRiO Programs. She has dedicated her professional and volunteer experiences to working with underrepresented students (low income, first generation, undocumented, and students of color).

Fast Facts

Nohemy was born in Salinas and raised in Soledad to immigrant parents from Mexico. She is a first generation student/professional of color and is passionate about social justice issues, higher education access, equity and inclusion. She was the first in her family to receive a graduate degree and believes her accomplishments were possible thanks to her family, friends and mentors. Nohemy speaks, reads and writes in Spanish and serves as a mentor to various programs and volunteers with the Chican@/Latin@ Youth Leadership Project, Inc.
